much appreciated. It certainly has been a very difficult situation to come to terms with. We are sort of recovering now but those memories keep creeping in and make you shed a tear now and then.
You two must have gone through much the same with your Daughter in law so you know what we are feeling.
We will get used to it over time I suppose. I cherish the memories of those good times though.
cheers mate
ps I will get to Cantberra one of these days and we can have that lunch we talked about.

the new knee that gave such sterling service on the Great Wall ( built to keep the rabbits out) is now "rattling".. I have to go in for the 12 monthly service next month, I'll mention it to the technician.... I CAN HOWEVER ASSURE YOU THERE WILL BE no surgery to tighten it up.... It will just have to rattle.... They use one of these to grease them you know...; http://www.ebay.com/itm/PLW05-037-Plews-Grease-Gun-Needle-Grease-Injector-/251993316973
I have photographic proof that Hyacinth could hold up a marble....

HH we mostly prefer to be away from towns if we can for the very reasons you noted. Same deal with free or low cost we would rather be away on our own or with a couple of others than jammed in like some CP's do.
Those bluddy marbles are too big for me to play with
I just took their pitchure.
hope you are well mate. how is the new knee going now?

Howard springs was under an upgrade when I was there 2010. It was great place to stay inland away from the mozzies on the coast and the drunken yahoos....
Bit disappointed you were not photographed preventing one of the Marbles from falling off another one...

In Katherine till Saturday then heading into Litchfield NP for a week so I will publish the next installment when we get back into coverage. Might have lots of pics by then too.
I did spend quite a bit of time "trialling" free blogs before I settled on this one. It is very easy to set up and use and there is a built in link to a book printer that will take your blog and print it up as a book for a very reasonable price. you can edit the book prior to printing if you wish.
As for the narrative, I suppose many years of writing technical reports where you have to keep it simple is showing in my "writing style" if you could call it that.

Frank, it appears a bit more "professional" than the one I use... I was also commenting on the crisp, professional narrative.... I tend to ramble incoherently on mine.... But then in real life I have been trained to waffle for ages without saying much... Canberra Syndrome.... You will notice most of the locals here have the same trait....

And great goodies at the Normanton Bakery.... Yep Normanton is a very nice place now as small towns in the middle of now where go. The Locals wont give you any strife they have cleaned up their act...
But do take a ride on the Gulflander, just a short jaunt... Tell him I sent you. Ask if RM60 is going for a run and get a seat next to the driver. If you're really nice he may let you change gears, if you can..... Phone the station master 07 4751391 but don't tell everyone..... Just between us....

Hi Elaine, I was very immersed in my vehicle problems it was a distressing time.
We had plenty of time to walk around Normanton, had a meal at the purple pub which was excellent. We stayed at the Normanton tourist park which is just around to the left at the purple pub in Brown st.
We were towed in by RACQ and the park management could not have been more helpful.
The tourist info centre is amazing and well worth a visit.
We did not experience any problem at all with the locals
Cheapest fuel we found was at the newsagent/store up a side st.
enjoy

Hi guys, I couldn't find any comments on Normanton in your blog, apart from you vehicle problems. Was just wondering how you found it there and where you stayed.
Thanks Jean, we did have a good trip although the wind was a bit nasty at some places. It is just so enjoyable to be out there enjoying this great country of ours.
glad you like the pics
stay safe frank

and it is free if you would like to set up your own. I found it very easy to use which is why I am still using it. now looking at making it into a book.
