As CEO of the LVET I will seek an audience with HRH Prince Leonard. He is an obviously eccentric but very clever man, should be an interesting melding of eccentric minds....... I was not aware that since he succeeded from the nation that there are now a whole raft of "Micro Nations" within our shores and I'm waiting for some smart Muslim to set up an independent state. If I was Juliar I'd short circuit any such action and offer them a large tract of land around Maralinga.... 

And he pulled it off becuase of the stupidity of the Government and lack of attention to detail that causes to this day so much strife with poorly written contracts  and mal administration.

There should be more of it. Susceeding that is!

At Moora now will head to Northhampton then Denham where the only place that could fit us in was the Shark Bay CP.

Tried the Monkey Mia resort and they offered to allow us to park our van and use one of their villas at $340 night so we wont bother, the Dolphins come in all day apparently as they used to have set feeding times but the Dolphins worked out that if they went 100metres down the beach they could beg scraps from anyone so now you buy a day entry ticket....

Denham Tourist were not able to help us becuase "Your Van is too long".. Cest La Vie...

Yep on Monday we head for Moora and hopefully see the first of the wildflowers then on to Northhampton then on Friday we should get to Denman or Monkey Mia. In negotiations with Monkey Mia resort as to a "sensible" fee for a powered site for 5 nights other wise we will stay at Denman and Hamlin Pool CP ( near the old telegraph station) I wish to interview a stromatalite for my blog.....

The Military Museum at Nungarin, 40 kms North of Merredin is well worth a visit too it was the biggest Ordnance Depot in WA during WW2.

Has a small caravan park there, but we have never stayed there. 

Which way are you headed now?  Are you turning up through the middle towards Moora?

If so you could go through Nungarin or stay there.   Some nice and cheap parks in that area generally going northwards (depending on route) are Mukinbudin (mens shed there too), Goomalling and Wongan Hills, to name a few. 

Turned out a very inspiring day... WOW the Goatcher Curtain in Boulder Town Hall is absolultey like AWESOME.... Incredible feeling standing on the exact spot as guided by the guide that Melba stood on in 1914...

And the super pit is super....

Day 2 Coolamon – Balranald.

A very dramatic moment this morning when I couldn’t find my socks, bought especially for the trip; I knew I packed them but couldn’t find them, probably because I packed them a month or so ago. Eventually they turned up in a basket that was on top of Carol’s intimate apparel. The sigh of relief must have been heard throughout the caravan park………

We stopped an hour west of Coolamon to dispose of our fruit; actually Carol made some tomato sandwiches with ham and cheese which she toasted for dinner…….

Stopped for luncheon at the Shearers Hall of Fame at Hay for a lamb burger; certainly glad I found my socks, woollen socks there were $13 a pair and a wash and wear woollen suit was only $595….. But not a solitary sheep in sight though and Gracie would have like to watch a dog working them. She is terrified of sheep, she met one on a leash in Young a couple of years ago…..

Vast tracts of land some as big as some small European countries had just had a cotton crop harvested, looked like snow. Massive cylindrical bales that fit 5 to a truck or 10 to a bi double and manage to disperse most of it enroute to wherever they were taking it.

Stopping overnight at Balranald River side Van Park $28 a night. The Murrumbidgee is running a banker but has dropped a foot or so. I’m feeling really really old, I remember the original lift bridge lifting.

On to Cadell tomorrow, a longish drive around 400km. We may stop enroute for a few pieces of fruit that we would eat before we have to empty all or fresh produce out at Border Village, though Carol has come up with a fiendish plan to cook and mash the potato….

Ok, so I only have to get rid of the last bit of garbage, take Hyacinth to the GP, pick up her INR machine and, and,..... Carols Aunt has had a dummy spit, fell asleep in a chair and fell off it, in Taree but we are letting the system deal with it, if we go up the system assumes that we are going to look after her so promptly put her in our care. Not this time, she is in a very nice private hospital, she wont cooperate with anyone or help herself so unless there is a real need we are going and she can be looked after by those who are being paid to do the job.....

Oh where was I? Just waiting for Hyacinth and one last task, turn of the computer.....

Updates from onthe road.....

Yep there are some lulu's out there, with and without dogs!  Some just don't think about the dangers to their pets etc. 

Oooops......sorry about getting the name wrong, apologies to Gracie !

I saw these dingo's eyeing off a couple of those little lap dogs a couple had running around their caravans, and this stupid woman in another caravan throwing food to the dingo's. 

I'll bet the dingo's would have enjoyed making off with one of those for a snack.  The owners seemed oblivious to the danger for their pet.   

Hmm....I thought you had given the Western trip away....so back on again?

Watch Rosey? coming across the Nullabor and elswhere, dog baits and dingoes (they hang around the Nullabor Road House and Caravavan park).

Best get Rosey a muzzle to prevent her picking up a bait at rest stops etc.
