I saw them getting the stuff ready when we came through the town on Friday......we went to the Wicker Man festival there where they burnt him on a bonfire and nice young girls dress in white danced around the fire holding hands......it was a night time event with a live band (folk music of course) and was a lot of fun........
The tourist bureau there sells some great car stickers with the wicker man on them etc.....
A couple of places to think about, Pinjarra, free camp outside Pinjarra Railway Station, toilet open all hours, big grassed area dogs ok, good shopping in town etc.
Donnybrook, Transit Camp, big drive through sites with concreted pad and individual ensuites with keys, also keyed washing machines (coin operated), free BBQ and campers kitchen area (sink). Dog friendly. Book in at BP service station on main road through town, Transit camp (very modern) outside cricket ground off side road roughly behind BP and over railway line.......Powered sites $26, unpowered (still have ensuite access etc) $17 per van. Fantastic stopover......apple growing region....
Balingup......Transit Camp, not sure of prices, powered, around oval, keys/book in at first shop on right coming into town from the south.
Have stayed at all of these, all ok. Balingup is a Medieval Town and like an upmarket Nimbin, magic mushrooms grow in area but heavily policed, the mushroom pies (real ones) at the cafe in town are beaut, as are fruit wines made locally with no preservatives etc. This town has character and has a number of pagan festivals during the year etc.....
