Yes I know all about it...... Except that I get interviewed at home over the phone as the travel payments for me to drive to Queenbeyan are in the words of DVA "excessive"......... BUT at least the Dr phones me and goes thru the interrogation, even if I have seen him the day before at the practise.
Now this is all bean counter driven and it reeks of gross stupidity and incompetance. SURE keep an eye out on veterans health but rather than waste money doing it a little planning could save millions.....
Anyway this is to be partially funded thru the savings gained by not giving singles in the services a free trip home at Xmas.....

My last adventure into the realm of quackery was at the request of the receptionist at the medical centre. Seems that DVA has extra money to throw around and now, as the honoured receiver of a TPI pension, my "situation"is to be monitored with three monthly check ups.
For some inexplicable reason, the highly educated doctor is not qualified to do this, although he may drop in to say "Hi"during the interview. The "interrogation" is done by a nurse with such questions as;
"How are you coping with condition A"; "What do you take for condition B"; "Has there been any recurrence of condition C";
Although all these matters have been noted in the details from the last time I saw the doctor, I was courteous and replied;
"Fine"; "What the doctor presribed"; "No"
The nurse then took about 40 minutes to type in these simple answers, the Doc dropped in to say"Hi" and then I went to reception to sign the DVA form.
Charge for the interview with the Nurse $400.00, charge for the "Hi" $52.00.

King of THE ROCK FoF TBTG EF BGB RAAF (ret) etc, etc etc
I'm as happy as a horny hillbilly at a family reunion.
Good on you Bushy,get off the medical roundabout,tests,or whatever else the money medicos blunder upon.Always remember this saying,"Pay yourself First",that is what I am doing from now on.Safe travels mate and good luck.Cheers Ibbo-Dukunter and his mate Father Ted.Lol.
Ditto from me too Bushy, otherwise your time is wasting away with never ending medical appointments and tests etc and you end up not going anywhere.....stuff them!
Ibbo, when first in the Services, they gave out these little books on how to handle your finances etc, and one thing they kept stressing was "Pay Yourself First" and that included before any debts or expenses you had etc.....wish I had kept that little book they don't give them out anymore!
Weeve Mate we must have had the same book.I got mine when I first joined the Fleet Air Arm(Senior branch of the Royal Navy).I have taught my kids the same saying as well as trying to live by it myself.Not always easy to do though.
As an after thought this is the latest medi-scan that I have come across.Dr.ask me if it is ok to give the Chemist the ok to visit my home,sit down and he will explain the reason and the working of 7 tablets I have for breakfast each day.OK chemist visits ,tells me what the Drs have already toldme,shake hands and ta ta.Phone call from Drs.surgery following week,a long appointment has been made for you to see the Dr.so as he can explain what the chemist told me.That was the last straw.Interesting fact about the cost of all this garbage.Visit by chemist $190.00.plus $60.00 travel expenses,long appointment with Dr.fee $65.00.$315.00 all paid for by the tax payer.Stinks.Considering I have been on various medications for close on 10 or so years and I always ask"What is this for".Well now I know.From now on there is a spare seat on the Medical Merry-go-Round.

Came back from Adelaide late last night, 900km round trip in the day and totally demoralised by the medical specialists.
So this afternoon I stripped out the campervan of creature comforts, made an inventory and a new list for the re-supply, and once that is done will fill the water tank, and a fresh roll of dunny paper and hope then to head north away from the medicos.
Anyone heading up the north thru the centre very soon liking a tag along for company and support at Free Camps along the way ?
I will be leaving from the South East of SA and adaptable to anyones itinerary and departure date if it is very soon. If not I will just blunder my way along, possible get into some mischief or what ever along the way and say bugga ! and just enjoy myself while the ole body is able.
Cheers for now.

Yep Bushy way to go Cobber. Once the Medicos get their "duty of care' scenario hyped up mate you end up at their mercy..... They have absolutley no concept of enjoying life, cant see that if the worst comes to the worst that YOU would be happier if that happened doing something you were happy doing....
After all it's in their best interests to tie up your life with every test known to medical science so they can say " well really we dont know what to do - maybe if you had a terriocotomy, have you considered that? "
Just make sure you have a "living Will" or advanced living directive sorted so that someone cant keep you alive as a vegetable while the Medical fraternity fight over ways to lengthen your life to ensure you end up paying more for the privelige...
