Hi E1.
No coverage the last 48 hrs. Am now at Rolleston CP for an easy run into Emerald tomorrow (I hope) Road not too bad. Bone shattering bumpy but van handled it OK.
Poor dog went airborne a couple of times. (No I wasn't going fast 80-90)

Stayed at the free camp just outside Dubbo. Well worth the stop.

Stopped off at Lightening Ridge for a night at the Opal CP. Didn't like it much. Reminded me of sideshow alley. Last time I was there was in 67-68 it was a bit different to say the least.

Surat at Fishermans Reserve last night, also a very good campsite. Went straight through Hebel so didn't see much. It has been a fast trip but will take it a lot more slowly coming home and see a few things I went straight by. Interesting sights. Gulahs at Gulargambone, Three wild dogs hung up in a tree by their tails and a black cat (Panther?) was on the road in front of me out in the middle of nowhere. Roos dead and alive everywhere.

Hope to spend at least the next month in Emerald. Will be at the Farmstay CP with sister and BIL and taking short trips to places in the area.

We stayed at the Crocodile CP a couple of years back.  Very rustic but we enjoyed it.

I haven't been to Hebel for probably 45 years.  Would be interested to know what's there now.

You have a safe trip and look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks Dwah. Free Camped just out of Dubbo last night. Very friendly fellow campers if a bit crowded. At the Opal CP tonight in Lightening Ridge. Had a look at their fossicking area but no go. Am heading to Hebel tomorrow.

I was strangely just reading a bit abouth the ridge..... I havent been there for over 38 years. Looks quite cosmopolitan now.... The jiant jaccuzi is still there.....

last time ie 2010 I was at Rubyvale we had a fossick at Wally's wash, found some reasonable stones to as souvenirs and amazingly found a cut and polished stone in with our bag of dirt.....
