Glad to hear that you got there.  Did you leave a gnome of your own??  We are now in Ceduna before heading down the Eyre Peninsula.

We will be coming across from Newcastle to Perth and then doing the bottom part below Perth, we are not going north of Perth

Carnarvon Outback Oasis Caravan park, great little park, brilliant older style facilities, ( aromas of my grandmas house) pot plants in the corners, real old world charm.Excellent value. A lot of development going on with the main street in Carnarvon, but no real hindrance. We are really enjoying ourselves, off to The Blowholes & Quobba Station for a day run tomorrow.

Left the Murchison van park two mornings ago!!  It was a nice little park and across the road from the Murchison river waterfront and a short walk to the beach.  Great friendly park and very pet friendly.

You should have a good time there.  We could have stayed longer if we hadn't already made the booking in Perth. cry

Stayed at Cliff head North free stop on the Indian Ocean drive on the way to Cervantes - great stop right on the water front.

We are planning to stay at the Murchison C P @ Kalbarri pet friendly on the waterfront maybe we could wait/meet there? I'm keen to spend more time at Denham/Monkey Mia but at $50 night? though there are some cheaper places around the Hamelin pool, I want to stop there and interview a stromatalite for my blog.

We will be in Kalbari on the 15th Aug. Haven't booked or decided how long we will stay yet. Will free camp at Nerren Nerren on the 14th.

To be honest I think it will be too difficult to arrange all of you to be in Perth at the same time, Barb and Daz will be here from 4th to the 10th, I think the Landsdale Park they are staying at is the one at Madely, Kingways Tourist Park, $40 a night, but double check with them also if they are I assume it is dog friendly.

Karrinyup Waters is a far better park but does not allow pets, or caravans over 9 metres long (from front to back, including tow ball end and spare at rear)......Not all that far from the Kingsway one but closer to the ocean....

Been out of range for a few days. Had a very good stay (although windy) at Exmouth for a week, because we were at the Lighthouse Caravan park on the western side of the Cape only place to get reception was at the lighthouse, now at Coral Bay, absolutely beautiful spot. Glad we got sunset piccies last night as it is now raining. Here for a week also, then off to Carnarvon for a week.

Enjoy your time at Carnarvon. A drive back up the coast to the blow holes is absolutely worth the effort. Explore along the coast north and south of the T junction. Just watch the water for a while. Even if there's very little swell it's a real natural wonder.

Just spent 5 days at Tom Price, real little oasis in the 'led glit'. Found a real great place to dine,  Wandawirri Lodge, it is the miners mess & they allow the public. $25 a head for all you can eat buffet ( walk in waddle out) If you don't like what is on offer at the buffet you can order steak or fish. Dessert bar to die for.Plus the icing on the cake was the bar prices, $2.70 for a Corona, $2.30 Carlton ,$4.00 top class wine.Thank you Rio Tinto.

But we must move on. Heading for Exmouth tomorrow for a week.We are gorged out & had enough 'led glit'.

Hi FL,

Buster went well.  The night before arriving at the border we took all his bedding and 'coats' out and made sure that we got all burs and grass seeds etc out of them.  The morning of travel we brushed him and checked his fur for hidden seeds and carried him to the car.

When we got him to the border the chap checke dhim over for any seeds etc and checked all his bedding and 'coats' and gave us the all clear.  I would have bathed him too but didn't have enough water in the van tanks to allow that.

Once we got to Lake Argyle we could wash anything and everything and empty and refill the water tanks in the van.  They encouraged everyone to do this.

Was not as stressful as we had anticipated.

We will be going the Gibb River Road on Firday morning and hoping to arrive in Derby within 8 days from then.

Barb Darryl and BUSTER

Hello fellow expedition members.......

Barb and Darryl and the expedition mascot - Buster - are leaving Katherine on the morrow and heading toward Lake Argyle.  We should arrive there on the 15th June andstay for three nights.  We will then head to Kununurra for 4 nights.

A decision will then be made as to which way from there - ?Gibb River Road or ?Great Northern Highway.

If any of you make it to Darwin the Adelaide River Cruise conducted by Harry is a must.

This is the second time we have been on it and it's worth every penny.

It is $130pp and that's for a full 8 hour tour with morning tea and BBQ lunch provided.

When you compare it to the $80pp for a two hour tour on the Adelaide Queen it looks pretty good to me.

AND

You go way further up the river than any of the other operators and he only has a maximum of 10 people at any one time where as the ARQ caters for anything up to 200 at a time.

I'll take the individual tour any time rather than a meeting of the masses.

I love watching them - from a distance.
They are so smooth in the water, they just slip down and reappear 10 metres closer to the bank. The water barely shows a ripple.
A prehistoric, engineering marvel and eating machine.

No point in rushin'. What's the "hurry"?
Stay safe and keep a look out for the elderly hippy. He's an interesting nomad.

Fly we have room in the tunnel under the top of the bed, a bit cramped what with all the fishing rods but I'm sure you could squeeze in.
